In CERN’s IRRAD facility, beam profile monitors (BPMs) control and characterize proton beams during irradiation tests of detectors and electronics.
This work develops microfabricated BPM prototypes that are ~10 times thinner, use aluminum sensing pads for higher secondary-electron yield, and offer improved radiation tolerance and sensitivity.
Validation with a 200 MeV electron beam at CERN’s CLEAR confirmed performance and highlighted applicability to lower-energy beams for broader industrial and medical uses.

Tools: Python, Data Analysis, Sensors, Sputtering, Photolithography, Atomic Layer Deposition, E-beam Evaporation, Wire Bonding
Designed abd microfabricated BPMs for CERN IRRAD facility: ~10x thinner, aluminum pads for higher sensitivity, improved rad tolerance; validated at 200 MeV (CLEAR) with potential industrial/medical applications.
RNNs are utilized to forecast the electricity demand of a specific city.
-
Two one-input predictors were developed to forecast energy demand for
horizons of 3 hours and 6 hours, respectively. The one-input predictors aim to comprehend the system
dynamics based solely on past energy demand. Based on periodic cycles, trends over time, regular regime,
and sudden spikes observed in the eload sequence by the model, the model predicts future values for the
present sequence timeline.

This paper outlines IRRAD’s annual 24 GeV/c PS proton-beam irradiations of hundreds of samples to assess radiation tolerance.
Describes beam control via flexible-PCB BPMs whose pad matrices read secondary-electron charge to reconstruct the beam spot.
Proposes microfabricated BPMs for non-invasive, ultra-radiation-tolerant (~10^18 p/cm²/yr) and thinner devices suitable for lower-energy beams.
